| July 1-31, 2010 Various Dates Marietta, GA | 2010 Georgia State Games (Twentieth Anniversary) The Georgia State Games Championships continues to "Keep the Olympic Dream Alive" in the hearts and minds of Georgians as athletes have the opportunity to hone their skills at new venues and against new competition. The Georgia State Games Championships is an Olympic-Style Sports Festival for all ages and skill levels. Various running events will be held throughout the month of July. | August 28, 2010 Macon, GA | Ridge Run 5K and 1-Mile Proceeds from this race will benefit adoption services to pregnant women and adoptive families through Covenant Care Services. |
| September 6, 2010 Atlanta, GA | U.S. 10K Classic We are The U.S. 10K Classic — Atlanta’s premier multi-event road race. Each year we bring runners, walkers, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes and professional cyclists together for a single cause — to raise awareness and funds for children’s charities in Georgia and for the future development of the World Children’s Center. Race Participants include elite athletes from around the world, national and regional 10K running champions, international and regional cyclists, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes, corporate team runners, race walkers, walkers and people who just love to participate! Known for our hills, we offer a challenging yet memorable course. Ultimately, the hills on our course pale in comparison to the challenges faced each day by children with no place to call home. Run/Walk for Hope 5K & 1-mile 1-mile at 6:45 pm, 5K at 7:45 pm Now with online registration. This 5th annual 5K run/walk will feature a candlelight finish with 350+ candles in support of those recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. The course will be a double loop on pavement totally off road inside Southern Pines Sports Complex in Dublin. Prior to the race there will be a 9/11 Commemoration at 3:00 pm and Family Fun Day from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with free hamburgers and hotdogs, splash pad park, water slide, jumpy houses, clowns, face painting, volleyball, continuous music from area bands, and much more. Race registration is $15 before Sept. 3rd and includes admission to the Family Fun Day activities. |
| Sep 22-25, 2010 Warner Robins, GA | 2010 Georgia Golden Olympics The Georgia Golden Olympics is hosted by the WR Recreation Department. Men and women, age 50 or older, are eligible to compete. Events include archery, golf, cycling, swimming, ballroom dancing, tennis, racquetball, bowling, track and field and many more. The run/walk events include 100M, 200M, 800M, 1500M runs, 5K run/walk, 1/2 mile walk, and racewalking. The event typically draws competitors from other southeastern states in addition to Georgia. |
